Lunar Eclipse

Don't forget this evening (Sunday 27, Sep) to observe the Super moon eclipse beginning at 2011 eastern. If it is cloudy where you live NASA will do a live feed from Alabama on your computer. Always liked this stuff. Don't look directly at............no that's with the sun........nevermind.

Be advised that Larry will be looking at someones FULL MOON this evening... I think that is TMI

On a more conservative note, thanks for the reminder. It's cloudy here so that takes the punch out of the experience.

Just watched the local weather here in N/E Louisiana & its supposed to be cloudy here. They said we probably wont see it but we may get a brief view in some places depending on the clouds.

So, thanks for posting that link to NASA's site.

I try to catch every astronomical event and wifey is accustomed to me getting up at 3 am to go lie in the front yard and watch meteors. Unfortunately I don't think the weather will cooperate tonight. I'm not complaining though. I only mowed my lawn twice all summer so the rain is very welcome.

I don't think the weather will cooperate here either it has been cloudy all day. They said we would have rain but so far we have only had sprinkles. Too bad too because we need more rain too the grass hasn't been too great looking lately.

Worked all day so crashed when I got home. Woke up and caught this thread and ran out front and thought I had missed it. Perfectly clear night, but full bright moon. Just checked again just in case i was reading the times incorrectly and sure enough, about 1/3 into the eclipse at 9:35 Maine Time.

Tried my little camera, but I don't think it knows what I'm pointing at, LOL. Got a couple of pictures and will add more as it progresses.

We have clear skies in San Diego. Still waiting on moon rise and will try to post some pictures early in the week.

We are at about 50% now. It's one of those moments you can only enjoy at the time as the pictures of a crescent moon in a fully black background are not that impressive.

10 PM EDT. I just went outside. The moon was 3/4 covered. I enjoyed it for a few seconds. Then the motion detector activated. I'll be back for the next eclipse, in 30 years.

Full here and it does have a red hue. But a bit cool.

Bud

PS I had to catch this one if the next is 30 years away. I don't think I'll make it that long.

When we got out of church last night the moon was just barely visible behind the clouds. When I got home the trees and mountain appeared to be in the way. Went back out at 9PM and the clouds obscured any sign of the moon. Intended to go back out around 10PM but fell asleep. Guess I'll have to wait for the next super moon eclipse in 2033

The high, thin clouds that were a problem cleared out and we had perfect conditions from about half to full eclipse, then clouds moved back in heavy. Got a few shots:

I could use more help too. I wouldn't mind going to church but I can't stand the music, at least not, in the white churches. For some reason, they think that God has no rhythm.

There can be big differences between churches, you might want to try several different ones. I had a customer 15 or so yrs ago that said him and his wife went to about 20 different churches when they moved to this area before they found one they really liked.

Ours tries to cater to the different desires of the members. Morning service, where there are more people, more upbeat modern music, while the evening service has more older traditional songs, dating back to when I was a kid. It works out.
