Picture size

Is there a size limit for images in a post? I have a 2.65 mb image that won't upload.

Not sure what the limit is, but 800x600 works well. Pictures I take on my phone I have to edit to 25% of their original size.

The board limit is 600x600 and approx. 50kb. It will resize somewhat larger pictures automatically but yours is too big. More explained here... http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...-pictures.html

Actually from my experience if the width is 1000px or less it will post. The height isn't all that critical. I routinely post pictures wider than 600 px. Okay just did a test on W-1000xH-1500. It posted

Size: 9.1 KB

Yes.... the board will resize larger pictures...... but down to 600x600 and 50K. That's why when the pictures are compressed they lose their quality.

Verified. Posted picture is reduced to 400x600. My point was on how large before they won't post. Your right on clarity, especially the hand drawn diagrams.

Good to know.

I never tried to push the board limit so I never knew the max size it would allow to be posted.
I resize all my pics before posting and they usually look exactly like they are supposed to.

<Opinion>Some images can weather board re-sizing and still be okay so I think we need to let people know max size that will post so that those not proficient in image sizing won't give up and not post just because their picture exceeds 600x600.

I never considered pic size. If pic won't fit by direct insertion I use Imgur as the go between. Never seems to fail regardless of size.

I just posted a picture that was 2040 X 1240, approximately 1 mb. The original size of 3260 X 1830 (2.1 mb) would not upload.
