Been coming on and off for several days now. At least it shows only 2 pages instead of 8.

Must be sporadic as I've not had any of the log in issues but new posts is currently showing 8 pages.

Logged in for three days straight?

Why?

I would assume the site would automatically log you out after so many minutes of inactivity.

You should be able to be automatically logged in when you click the bookmark in your browser - at least that is how it's always worked for me.

Because I have many tabs open and move around quite a bit, don't see the need to log out and back in all day long when I go back and forth on many sites. Now when I finish this post and reload the page it will want me to log in again.

To Norm, I don't log out and have never been logged out due to inactivity. If you're getting logged out, then you may be experiencing the same problem as some other members. It shouldn't happen.

The last few days the board as whole was not refreshing so that the new page counts were increasing. Also.... the login wasn't timing out either which is why it was ok for the last few days. It appears they may have turned that back on again.

I know the techs were working on the system today as the database was down for several chunks of the day.

If you had an old cookie for DIY..... you would have remained logged in all during the last month or so. If you cleared your cache and cookies..... you would be experiencing the constant need to relogin.

Shadie,

No I'm not having any problems with logging in. I just made the assumption that inactivity would log you out. Other forums I've been on that was the rule.
I have a tendency to constantly log in and out and jump from web site to web site.

I actually see more things changing in the board operation so it definitely looks like a solution may be near.

I haven't needed to log in for almost six months since my computer crash. A year before that.
But as soon as I cleared my comp last month.... I needed to log in every time and having been doing so many times a day.

I do notice that if I log out, or exit to go to anther web site, if I comeback within the minute or so I'm still logged in.

So as moderators, do you guys & gals have any input as to actual operation of the board?

We tell the IT devs when there is a problem. They take it from there.

This one has been going on for a while and no.... it's not a script issue. It's in the boards software.

Since this topic keeps popping up all over the board will make this an information only post.
