personal avatars?

With all the changes taking place on this board, any chance that we can use our own avatars? We tend to get to know a particular poster with his avatar and then someone else comes along with the same one and confusion ensues. Well not confusion but you need to look twice at the posters name.

Yea I know I mis-spelled personal in the title. Not even sure if I used the right form of the word.

I agree. I would also like to see this implemented.

I frequent a long list of forums and this is the only one that lacks a mechanism to attach a personal avatar to your profile.
Unfortunately some forums allow members to go way beyond the bounds of decency in those avatars.

I'd like to have the ability but it does create work for admins & moderators in creating and enforcing rules.

Interestingly it says in the edit avatar area : "Note: if you have a custom avatar selecting this option will delete it." Leading me to believe I could upload one. But I've searched and searched...

Also in the FAQ search there is this.
"To select an existing or upload a new avatar, click on 'Edit Avatar'.
To upload a profile picture, click on 'Edit Profile Picture' in the 'Your Profile' section."

Tells me I don't have permission when I click on the edit profile picture link from that FAQ page.

You can only select from the list that is provided.
It was determined that it was too hard to police people trying to install larger avatars.

All other forums I frequent allow them and place a limit on file and pixel size so I don't see how too large would be an issue?

I'm not going to argue. Just relaying what we were told.

A lot of things on this forum platform are wanting. But in spite of that it still is the best in terms of people and subject matter.

Just a thought...If a one time payment of say $3.00 for those who want custom avatar? I'd pay.

Go to the bottom of any page and send an email to the webmaster. Tell him you want your own personal avatar. If they get enough requests..... maybe they'll change the system.

This is a vBulletin website and our owners are the same people that own and produce vBulletin for websites around the world.

This is a private site owned by a company so I can't really tell you what will work. We have been pushing for changes for months and have not seen them,
