Anybody familiar with the neighborhood network called www.nextdoor.com? Just received an invitation via US mail. Opinions?

Yeah, I belong to it. It's just a message board with your's and surrounding neighborhoods, to post about anything to do with the neighborhood.

I've gotten an invite here locally, too; haven't signed on yet though.

There is an active group in my neighborhood, though I am not part of it. My best friend lives in a neighborhood using it as well and he belongs and participates.

I'm afraid that if I join, I'll get hit with lots of advertisement for home repairs and things of that nature. Don't need more e-mail.

Surprising enough when I talk to my kids about social media they dont even grasp the concept that the only reason it exists is to track and entice you to buy krap that you dont need.

Do you really need more non innate communication cluttering up your life!

I've never gotten any advertisements or anything from joining and I joined probably a year ago or so.

Most people just post with local events, happenings, warnings, pets up for adoptions and things like that. It's pretty nice IMO.
