Refuting a complaint that got to the fbi

APparently someone filed a complaint against me in 2001 through the arlington va police dept

I was never notified of this and no charge was ever brought to me

I found this out when I went on an interview and they did a background check and this was in the fbi database

how embarassing, the claim is not true but when I called arlington, they no longer have any record of this so how do i refute it?

TIA

Call the FBI. Apparently they have the records if it was them that provided it in the first place. And don't believe Arlington doesn't have the records. They just didn't want to look. File a freedom of information act petition and it will force them to provide it.
