Wall mirror in Gym

I would like to place 3 pieces of mirror on a wall with 2 columns / pillars separating them, and create an illusion of the room continuing beyond the mirror. Each piece is 80" x 53" and 1/4" thick. Soffit above and berber carpet below. I would like to avoid the metal J-channels if possible. Would it be OK to glue these panels to the unfinished dry-wall with temporary support from shims on the floor, or do you need permanent support. (i.e. is the glue [special mirror adhesive] enough?)

Any other hints on hanging these, espcially since the "pillars" are not completely plumb?

Thanks a lot !!

Mirror installation

Check in with a local mirror/glass shop for proper adhesives, channels, and installation instructions.
