Framing a large vanity mirror

I'd like to take some molding and frame the large mirror over my double vanitity to dress it up. What I'm unsure about is the clips that hold the mirror on the wall. I didn't want to buy the molding and find out that the it wouldn't fit well. I saw this feature in a home improvement magazine but it didn't mention anything about the clips.

I've used moulding to frame a large vanity mirror, which had clips. I think I rabbeted the moulding on a tablesaw though, so it held the mirror in place, and discarded the clips. Without the saw you could rabbet with a knife, using the mirror as a cutting guide, if the moulding is soft, straight-grained wood.

I can't imagine how you could have a frame *and* clips.

or, if you don't want to do that much woodworking (i wouldn't!!!), adhere the mirror to the wall using mastic made for that, and then frame out with your moulding. then the clips aren't an issue. however, removal of the mirror will be much harder in the future, but if you're sure it's there to stay anyway, then go for it.
