Is Epoxy the same as Mastic?

Hi,
Is Mirror Epoxy the same as Mirror Mastic? I am trying to glue a wood trim to the mirror and HGTV says to use a mirror epoxy. I already have the mastic to glue the mirror to the wall. That didn't work though, as the mirror is too heavy and i will have to find another means.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I never heard of mirror epoxy. Mirror mastic is a glue that will hold the mirror to a wall but must have a mechanical support at the bottom (J molding, a ledge or other means). Other mirror adhesives, silicone included, will hold a wood frame to a mirror. The wood would have to be held in place (taped) until the adhesive dries.

Epoxy is not used for installing mirrors. Use adhesive recommended for mirrors. Other adhesives tend to cause deterioration of the mirror backing. As indicated, heavy mirrors will need additional support. Glass/mirror shops have adhesive, clips, and channels for hanging mirrors.
