I have a large (72 x 42), heavy mirror that I want to hang horizontally on the wall in our new house. The back of the mirror has hooks to hang it vertically and 2 straps to hang it horizontally. How do I hang the mirror without the straps showing? The wall it is going on is panneling. It needs to be secure enough that my boys cant knock it down.
I saw the previous post on hanging the 120 lb mirror. Would that work for us?
Thanks for your help.

Hi -
Home centers like Lowes or Home Depot carry "hanging kits" for heavy loads like you describe. The kits have rolls of braided wire, wire anchoring hardware, and wall hooks all in the same package. Just be sure to get a kit thats rated for the weight you're hanging AND to nail the hooks into the wall studs - plaster, drywall, and panelling cant support that heavy of a load by themselves (and don't use wall anchors either, they won't stand up to the weight for very long).
As far as the existing straps, I'd just tape them to the back of the mirror out of the way.
