Question barn style roof trusses

Hi

I currently have an 8 x 12 shed with a 3-12 pitch gable roof. I want to put a barn style roof on it with an upper level for storage. Can someone please help me with the truss plans. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Glenn,

Welcome to DoItYourself.com

You're talking a gambel barn?? The upper slope is 30 degrees below horizontal, and the lower slope is 60 degrees. A double pitched roof. Draw a gable end of your shed as it now exists on a piece of paper. The side walls are set -- you aren't going to change them, except maybe for their height. Draw the 60 degree line up from each wall. Now start at the ridge and draw the 30 degree line down. That is the top of your rafters. Gusset the joints, add joists from wall to wall, and you have what you need.
