Skylites - shades, coverings

Hi,
I built a 16x 16 sunroom on my deck 2 years ago. I used 5 6foot sliders, 2 small window and a mullion. I did the interior in barnboard ($500). It looks mint. Best thing I did in the house
I put in 4 stationary skylites which fit directly between the joists. I am cheap and do not want to spend a lot $$ on the covering for the skylites. I would like something retractable but they cost more than the window at Lowe's or Home Depot.
Any ideas for the covering for the stationary skylites wouldbe appreciated.
Thanks

bksrj58,

The skylites I put in my house have opaque domes on them. I have never felt the need to cover them, even with Redding's hot and sunny summers. My neighbor used lites with clear domes (same south facing roof orientation as mine). He has some green covers that he puts on them every year.

If your lites have clear domes and you feel the need to do something, maybe you should just replace those lites with ones with opaque domes. That would cost less than covers!
