patio room on existing deck

Is it possible to add a patio room or sun room on an existing wood deck? The deck is one-story high and the support posts rest on a concrete slab with footings for the posts

dmtopper,

Welcome to DoItYourself.com and the Greenhouse, Shed and Sunroom forum.

I have put several patio rooms and sunrooms on existing decks, so yes, it can be done. But, BEFORE you do anything, get the engineering for the room (assuming that this is aluminum or wood framed "kit" room that you are thinking about) and have an inspector from your local bldg. dept. do a pre-inspection. You will probably have to alter the framing of the deck somewhat before you can install a room on it, and you may have to put in bigger footings.

You haven't told us where you are, so we have no clue as to what snow loads, wind loads, siesmic zone, etc. requirements you'll have to meet.
