Question garden windows

I am a new member to DIY. I have searched the website for garden windows and have only seen sheds, sunrooms, and greenhouses.

I have a 48" square sliding window. I want to build an aluminum framed garden window to fit on the outside. I priced one at Home Depot for about $1,100. That is out of the question. I anticipate using 1" aluminum angles precut at Home Depot and clear silicon for the glass.

Does anyone know of a kit that is manufactured for this purpose? Has anyone ever done this? Am I asking for more than I can do? I have moderate skill in this area and sometime attempt more than I can do.

Thanks,

Charlie

charlie belcher,

Welcome to DoItYourself.com.

Go with the window from HD, or check with a glass shop and see what their price is. (I'm assuming that this window is one in an exterior wall of your house.) NO WAY is this something that you want to try building yourself!! INSTALLING it yourself is fine, but it's not something that you want to BUILD yourself!

$1100 for a 4/0 4/0 garden window is right in the ballpark.
