mounting mailbox to red brick
I bought a mailbox and want to mount it to the house which is red brick! Can I use a masonary drill bit and drill into the brick or do I drill it into the mortar? Or is there somthing else I can use to mount the mailbox to my brick house?

Drill through the mortar. This will be more than strong enough and be easily patchable in the event you relocate it or whatever.
Use plastic anchors and screws with washer.
