Anchoring Plazma TV to Wall

[B]I have a special holder to fix to a wall to hold a plazma TV. This fixture was manufactured in Japan and is not specifically designed for US construction. It says to anchor the frame to the wall using M6 bolts. I plan on anchoring it to the studs using lag bolts. Will this be as secure as using M6? The TV is flat and weighs about 66 pounds.

M6 is 6mm which is a little smaller than 1/4". I have never seen lag bolts narrower than 1/4".

a #12 sheet metal screw pan head with a washer should fit in the m6 hole if a 1/4" lag won't. A #14 sheet metal screw is the same diameter as a 1/4" lag. #12 screws are sometimes a #2 and sometimes a#3 philips head size, so make sure you have both bits to put in your screw gun (you don't want to try to put these in by hand!). Use a 2 1/2" and drive them into studs with a screw gun and it won't be going anywhere . Enjoy the view!
