Fastening to Stucco

Fastening to Stucco
I plan to build wood railings for my front porch. One end of the railing will be attached to the wall of the house which is stucco with a rough finish. I would like some suggestions on how to fasten it securely to this surface. My plan calls for drilling through the rail at an angle into the stucco wall, but I'm not sure if this will work well. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I dont know of any fastener that will hold to stucco. stucco is not strong enough to hold that I have heard. what you do need to be sure of is if you are using a nail to get a double hot dipped galvanized as the lime in the stucco will eat away the nail. And if you are using a screw get a life coat. this is a new wax base coating that is better than galvanization. I would make sure your nail or screw is long enough and goes into a stud or foundation. Hope this helps
