Attach 30 Lb shelf to drywall/concrete wall
Folks,
I bought an entryway shelf (and bench) for to install in basement (just outside the garage) and while installing I realized that the drywall is glued next to the concrete wall and there are no wooden studs.
The shelf is around 20 pounds and there could be additional 10 lbs of stuff. Any suggestions how I should hang the shelf? Do I need to drill into the concrete wall? Any suggestions on types of fasteners?
Any help would be appreciated!

My opinion would be for some concrete wedge anchors. They have a slim to none chance of pulling out once they are tightened down, as ugly as the finished look would be. Of course, a concrete screw such as a Tapcon would probably be good enough, but it has the better chance of pulling out depending on the weight and how much the shelf is used. In this case, the longer the screw, probably the better, but the longer the concrete screw you use, they are more apt to breaking or stripping out the head. If you can deal with the threaded end with a nut look of the wedge anchors, that's the way to go.

EZ Anchors
Thank you.
I tried EZ Anchor in the drywall and it appears to be of the right length. My follow-up question will be -- instead of drilling all the way into the concrete wall, can I just use EZ anchors (totaling 6) to hang the shelf? Would it hold up around 30 lbs?

Well then, I suggest you read the packaging on those EZ anchors which would hopefully tell their weight limitations. They are for light duty only. I don't believe they are going to hold a 30# shelf long term. At the very least, I'd try the Tapcons.

I used tapcons 2 3/4 in. nails. I had to drill in the concrete with a carbide tipped bit, but it worked like a charm. Looks like tapcons are going to do the job and then some.
Thank you for everyone who helped esp. Troy and Mango man !
