Question file cabinet repair

I have lateral file cabinets with a string pulley system tthat secure the drawers. The string has broken and the drawers do not fully open. Is there
any way to re-place the string system in the cabinet?

Welcome to the forums, vicmis!

I am sorry to say I am not familiar with a file cabinet like you describe. Is this to lock the drawers or some type of interlock system to prevent more than one drawer from opening, to prevent tipping?

Perhaps someone else may be familiar with your setup.

Exactly. They were purchased for a non-profit from a garage sale about 10 years ago. The pulley system only allows one drawer to open at a time and keep the cabinet stable. The newer ones don't work this way, and I am trying not no have to buy new ones-or find someone who would take these
and discount new ones. This is why I looked for a site like this.
