Roofing Nails

This sounds like a dumb question, but I need to ask anyway.

Do all roofing air nailers use the same nails, or are the nail specs different for the different brands?

To my knowledge all coil roofing nails are the same and work in all nailers.

I suppose the exception might be the length, but I would think that there too, all guns would shoot the longest length of roofing nail that they make in coils, which I believe is 1 3/4".

Nails

Thank you, XSleeper. This is the answer I was hoping to get. We are getting cost estimates to replace 250 squares of roofing on our church. Most of the labor will be furnished by volunteers from out of town. We need to be sure we have the correct nails priced. Thanks again.

Ken, if you need to use my nailer, send me a PM and I'll ship it to you. I hate roofing. I also dislike 180 second waiting periods, but such is life.

Nailer

Thank you, Larry.
My 72 year old knees will not let me do roofing.
The guys doing the work will have their own tools. I was making sure we get the correct nails for them to use.

The most common length in roofing coils is 1-1/4". They can get longer, but they will be used for siding coil nailers.

If you have a roofer come do your work (labor only) and you provide the materials; They should provide the fasteners for their guns.
