Mounting OTR microwave
My 20 year old Quasar microwave has died. When I took it down, I found it had a slide on mounting system which did not rely on the cabinet above to support any of the weight. Does anybody make an OTR microwave with this type of mounting system?

Welcome to the forums.
If it didn't connect to the cabinet above where was all the strength coming from ?
The slide systems I've seen attached under the cabinets and to the wall.

It's been a few years now since I last put in a microwave oven for over the range and they have all been GE microwaves. As far as I know though they all have brackets that should be attached to studs if at all possibe and also should be attached to the cabinet above otherwise as PJmax said where is all of strength coming from to help hold the microwave in place? They must weigh at least 30 pounds or more and need two points of contact to secure the microwave safely.
