Thread/Pitch Identification

I need to order a metal cap to cap off a speedometer sensor on my dirt bike and need help determining what size cap I need. I took some measurements with my calipers and measured a diameter of 0.475" and a thread count of about 25 per inch. I need a cap with a height of about 0.4" to cover all the threads. I may just cover it with a flexible vinyl cap, but I'd like to try and match up a metal cap first.

You have to know exactly what you need. I have a feeling you're going to be dealing with a metric size here because of the bike. 0.475" is 12mm.

You may end up going to a hardware supply store to find that.

Looks like it is an M12x1.75. Found a metal cap on McMaster that fits the bill.
