Latch for a large access panel

Latch for a large access panel

I have large access panel (3'4') in the wall of my finished basement that doesn't have a latch so the 'door' sits slightly ajar. I can't find a cheap/small latch besides a 2" bolt latch which seems overkill. It's essentially just a cut-away of the sheet rock with hinges that allows the door to swing open but no latch to stay closed. Any ideas?

Magnetic catch, snap catch... ball catch... eye hook... quite a few options. You could also put a screen door spring on it. Hard to imagine exactly what you have without seeing it.

A lot of hinges snap closed, so different hinges could be an option as well.

All require a handle except the eye hook, right?

I'll take a pic when I get a minute. It's a 2' X 4 or 5' cut out of the sheet rock with 3 hinges and it doesn't slow all the way and sits 1" ajar and drives me nuts. I can use a striker but than need a handle which makes it more obvious. Maybe a tiny eye hook will be the cleanest.

You could use a recessed door handle.

Magnetic latch used on medicine cabinets. Have then in all hardware stores. You just push door in slightly and latch releases.
