If you don't want to talk to a local locksmith, check with a dealer that sells the brand of lock you're looking at working on - the parts are different, yes, even the pins aren't the same.

Most hardware stores that sell a particular brand lock have the capability of re-keying them, which means they have the pins. Find a dealer.

Try Maintenance Warehouse 1 (800) 431-3000. If you call before 1:00 PM and ask for a catalog you will have it the next day, same as when you place an order, and they have everything. Good luck Dave

Depends on the type of lock, Home Depot sells re-keying pins and keys for Schlage and Kwickset.
