Do you predrill when using masonry nails?

I am wondering whether you would recommend predrilling a hole a little smaller than the fluted masonry nail diameter, where I want to put masonry nails in concrete, concrete block, brick, and brick mortar. I have heard conflicting advice.

Thank you.

Cool

It isn't necessary.
Hardened masonry nails are made to be driven in without pre-drilling holes, although you can if you want.
Your choice.
