painting old heat registers
#1
sorry, posted in wrong spot, see paint section
How do you re-paint old heat registers, the big, vertical
cast iron kind?
Can I just scrape them with an stiff brush and just redo
them with silver metal paint? Do I need any type of
primer?
I'll be doing this in early May when the heat is off.
thanks again,

You only need to prime bare metal.
If you just brush loose paint off and sand the grates, and no bare metal is exposed, you can just repaint it.
If you have bare spots, sand and then just spot prime them.
(I just spray paint mine whenever they need it.)
Good luck!
