Exclamation sprained arm/elbow

I was shaking a paint can and I sprained my arm and it hurts. if I put pressure on it like lean on it it hurts more and just now moved it too much and heard something go SNAP and it hurt worse then it did earlier and its throbbing. did I snap a tendon or pull a muscle. I can still move it but it hurts. What did I do. I might have hit my arm on something earlier in the day but can't remember. should I put ice on it or go get a x-ray.hope this make sense.

How are you doing? !!!!! It's been several days since so I hope you're ok. No pro or doc here, but hearing a SNAP is not a good thing. IMO, even if you don't know AND it hurts worse, AND you heard a SNAP, go see your doc.

Sprains (or strains) don't snap because it's your ligaments being overstretched and partially torn. If you sprained/strained your arm, their may be swelling, pain or bruises.

If you have a hard time moving your arm or if the pain is extreme and you heard a snap you need to see a doc.

Well I know I heard a snap or thought i did. It seams to be doing better. it would hurt if I put pressure on it or shake it too much but then the pain would go away until I did something that my arm didn't like. its still sore but seams to be healing.nothing feels outta place. now if I put too much pressure on it it will hurt but not as much so thats a good thing.before it hurt a lot and I would hold it till the pain went away.

I tell my patients that more than three days of symptoms and they should go see a doctor. If you're significantly better in three, you might be ok. If in doubt or if there is any weakness or lack of feeling in the arm, go see the doc.
