need to get ready for a 5k run in 1 week

I'm in decent shape, just rode a 200 mile bike-a-thon this past weekend.
I just decided to enter a sprint triathalon in 1 week. I'm not worried about the swim (as I'm a good swimmer), the bike should be no problem after just doing 200 miles in two days.

I havent run in over 3-4 years. I'm a big guy (240lbs).

I need to do what I can to prepar for the 5k run in just over 1 week. any suggestions?

stop laughing- I'm serious! Beer 4U2

No matter what you do..I think its going to be more of a run-walk.

Thats just over 3 miles...I used to do a PT test 2X a year w/o any real prep (other than coffee and cigs..lol), but that was only 1.5 miles. If you swim and bike a lot..you probably have the stamina and wind..the problem is different muscles are used. No way to really build them up in time.

I'd say a couple of days of mile or so runs just to gauge what you can do. Lay off for a couple of days before the actual run or your muscles will probably tighten up on ya. Good stretching before the run..unless the swim is right before it.

Good luck
