Will a tibia rod crack?
I have a titanium rod down my shin from a nasty break 5 years ago. The area of the break is very noticeable. I was playing in the yard with my dog and stoved my leg on a small mound and now it hurts to walk and it's swollen around the area of the old break. Yes I know go to hospital but my question is could the old break have re broken/cracked around the rod and it's keeping it in place?

Bones don't break again in the same place due to the way they heal. That said, the healing process does create a weak spot near the original break where a new break becomes more likely. So, you very well could have broken the bone in that general area again.
