Heating/Cooling options for new sunroom??

Hello, I am having a sunroom additon put on to my house and need some advice about heating/cooling options. The sunroom is on a cement slab and thus duct-work from my existing heating/cooling would be too costly.

The room is approximately 300 sq feet. I live in Virginia - hot in summer, cold in winter but not freezing.

Options that I know of - let me know if there are other options.

1. Heating/Cooling unit that will go in one of the exterior walls. I've looked into GE/Carrier brands (12,000BTU). These units are air-conditioners with heat pumps. The cost is approximately $1000-1200.

2. Electric baseboard heat (already have 220V electricity) and then placing an air conditioner in the exterior wall. The cost of this is much cheaper - $100 for heater, $300 for air conditioner.

Questions - will option #2 be significantly less energy efficient? ARe tehre any other negatives to option #2? Are there any other options?

Thanks

Cary

For just the one room here Look into a Ductless split system. This comes as a heat pump. With the heat pump you do get like 3 time more heat for your dollar then you do with the base board heat.

Thanks for the reply. So, is the ductless system you are talking about something like a GE heating cooling system with a heat pump (looks like hotel systems).

Or is there another system other than the 2 I talked about.

This is the GE system I"m talking about .....

Let me know what you think. Thanks

They are like a split system one part on the wall like and the other part is outside on the ground. Dont make as much noise.

Try www.quietside.com
