How do you calculate ductwork layout and size for a heat pump

Same as a AC and furnace. 60 sq" per ton for a tight job and on up to 80 sq" per ton for a good job. Think about 400 cfm per ton also. So for a 3 ton tight 1200cfm need about a 8X24 duct. You have to know what you have to start with

I am starting with a 3 ton heat pump. i was told you need a certain size ductwork to get best effiency from heat pump. I was also told if you had wrong size ductwork it was hard on compressor?
