Unhappy Goodman Gas Furnace and Heat Pump Combo

Greetings Mr. Moderator....All

We have a Goodman GMP075-3(approx. 3yrs old) that got a new thermostat in Feb.(White-Rodgers 70series 1F78 5-2day programmable) also a new high limit switch in March.

Now that it is cooler the Gas section of the furnace is giving no heat. We still get heat from the pump. But when the thermostat is set in excess of the 3 degree differential the gas is not called nor does the ignition click.

We have checked the thermostat for good connections and the wiring to the high limit switch....We did not see any loose connections.

We have even had the gas company out to verify service and check for problems. We have not smelled gas or anything....that was just to be safe.

Any other suggestions?

Why the new tstat? When put in did the heat or furnace work then. Tstat wires in right batteries ok if you have them there. If you jump R to W2 does it come on?

Wink More info......

Hi ya Ed!!

Sorry forgot to tell that .....

But, we had the old tstat replaced due to old age and malfunction. The new one worked just fine once in on heat and cool. We burned out the High limit switch by not changing the filter soon enough. And when the high limit was replaced it was warm and we didnt bother to check the heat function.(should have though )

Thumbs up

Shame shame new air filter every 30 to 90 day's Might want to look at blower wheel and see if it's clean. The blades have like a cup to them and if dirt builds up in the blade it does cut down on the air it can blow out. might look at the coil and see if its clean. It all helps to save on fuel cost.
