Heat Strip replacement.

Has anyone had to have heat strips replaced? Tech is going to get back to me on $$ but alluded to cost probably wouldn't be much less than a new unit,

Thanks

Dont know what you have but they are not to bad. Some of the strips can have small fuses that can go and thats all . They are on the inside of the unit you cant see them.On some others you can just replace the nickle chrome wire. So it all in what you have as to the cost.

I dont know if Ruud and Rheem where the same at that time on the units . But some had a like chromalox type heater coil fixed in the blower houseing and you had to buy the whole thing. Cost I dont know. But they do burn out like a water heater element from dirt are dust on them in one spot. .Post back on what he comes up with .

I live near the coast in NC and here they tend to take out the calrod heaters in Rheem/Ruud air handlers My distributer has 10 to 12 heaters in stock all the time. They are a little difficult to install but they are a replacable part.
