Ruud drain pan replacement question...
I have read through the first 8 pages of threads and not found what I need.
I have read that it is either easy or impossible for the DIYer to replace the drain pan under the coils.
What should I look for to know if it will be easy? What do I need to do to replace the pan?
It looks like it may just slide out of the front of the unit, is that normally how a pan comes out?
Where do I find the correct model number so I know what pan to get as a replacement? I found the furnace model number, but no dice on the AC side of things....
Thanks.
Casey

A lot of these evaporator drain pans are manufactured with the tubing actually penetrates thru the metal pan ends making it real tough to remove, but a real careful experienced and determined sheet metal worker can trim the metal off around the tubing, remove the existing pan, fabricate a new one out of stainless steel complete with SS coupling and reinstall it for a long term fix. I did this job for my parents and if I had charged them it would have been well over $1,000.00 the project is not cost effective!!!!!!!!!! plus you stand a good chance of damaging the coil and causing a future leak, just replace the evap coil and go on with your life unless of course you have a friendly SMW that owes you big time or at least one that you can get some major leverage on.
