noise

I wrote about this before but since then we have had a technician over. He can't explain the noise our furnace makes-it was quiet while he was here. It seems the colder the noisier. It sounds like someone kicks the furnace and sometimes the room above vibrates it is so severe-like you slammed a door. It cannot be caused by turning on and off-when running during a cold spell it bangs loudly. We checked for loose ducts, dampers etc but are stumped. It seems to be around the furnace itself. We can live with the noise like 4x's a night when cold out but don't want to be stuck w/o heat. I've heard these heat pumpmps can last a little while to a long time-most of our neighbors have one like ours and the same year and still have them-they are about 20 years old. My blower has been replaced and we have had the unit serviced in and out-clean filter each month.
Has anyone experienced this hard to trouble shoot noise?
