Unhappy Goodman 2.5 ton 13 seer heatpump\heat strip

i bought a 2.5 ton 13 seer goodman heat pump system of ebay.i had a friend of mine who works for York come over today and install my system, well everything is installed, except for the low voltage connections.he said he didn,t know how to connect the outside low voltage wires to the inside low voltage wires, then the inside low voltage wires ,to the thermostat. Is there anyone out there who has a clear diagram as to how to connect the wires.(1)connect the low voltage from the out side unit ,to the low voltage to the inside unit (2)connect the in side air handler unit to the thermostat. if so please email me a clear copy so i can have some air,it is hot. (3)lastly he said he ran 18 feet of 3/4 copper from the outside unit to the inside unit, and doen,t know how much extra freon to add. Please Thanks for any and all HELP!!!!!

Your friend has no business touching your system from the sounds of your explanation. Get professional help. Did he say he works for York Air Conditioning or York Meat Packing Company? One must have professional training to install a heating and air conditioning system correctly for an average do it yourselfer.

Goodman heat pump

Your heat pump should have come with all the information you need to install it. Mine sure did. sounds like you didn't bother to do any research at all. I don't normally help those who wont go to the trouble to help themself, but here's a link

Angry

well the guy from york fianlly got it running yesterday, then it wouldn`t turn off. so i turned it off manually.when i went to turn it back on only the outside unit came on ..so today i called another ac/heat installer, to check out the system,he said he was charging 100.00 a hour cause of the holiday,he goes up to the air handler, and told me my circuit board was bad ,but he could hot wire my fan so it will run all the time, untill he can fix the circuit board. so he hot wires the fan and the house started fill with smoke.i told him you burnt my unit up.he said no everything is ok,but i won`t be able to fix it.i told him everything is not ok you burnt up something electrical.he then admitted he burnt up the blower motor.so now he went to his shop to see if he has a motor to replace my motor.i cant believe the problem i have had trying to get this system working .it is a brand new goodman 2.5 ton 13 seer and only had it running two hours, and today is 90 degree.had i know i would have all these problems i would have just bought locally .it seem when you buy your unit from some one else ,no one want to install it ,who know what they are doing.

I see a temporary fix to this problem with more to come afterwards. On another board, the Goodman line of air handling products seems to have the most problems. I think they contain inferior parts. Why then would they sell direct to customers instead of dealers only? And buying something from off of Ebay is like buying a used car. I checked our local yellow pages and in the air conditioning and heating sections, only one dealer seems to install Goodman products along with other well known brands. There are also a lot of small dealers that do not list what brands they install. Hmm, seems to be a message there.
Do yourself a favor fella, and trash the system and hopefully you learned something from this.
