Hello All,
A couple of days ago I switched the thermostat from cool to heat without pausing at the off position, this resulted in the circuit breaker to tripping.
I reset the circuit breaker but the compressor does not switch on any more.
I have also reset the thermostat several times without any result.
I tried both cool and heat settings, the blower comes on and the fan in the outside compressor unit also comes on but the compressor does not kick on. What could be the problem? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks AAK

It could just be something as simple as a capacitor. Some compressors use their own capacitors, others use a combined cap for the compressor and fan. It doesn't sound good that the breaker opened though....compressor should probably be ohm'd out first to rule out a short. Also may want to check the contactor.
