ORM1008 Replacement fan motor for Ruud
Our Ruud heat pump is working fine except I'm noticing some "bearing" type noise in the outside unit. Been looking for a replacement motor and plan to change it in the Spring.
It looks like the AO Smith ORM1008 motor is a replacement for my Ruud/Rheem 51-21276-02, KA55HXPAM-7255.
Anyone familiar with this motor as a replacement for Ruud/Rheem? Does it come with a wiring diagram and run capacitor, or does that need to be ordered separately? Wiring changes need to be made?
Thanks,
Jim

Make sure you have the right Hp ,RPM ,and it turns in the right way CW or CCW.
Get a new capacitor with it. The wire lay out should come with it. But also make sure you mark how the old motor was.

Just ordered the motor. RPM is 825, got a new 5mfd cap to go with it, hp is just a little higher but physically dimensions appears to measure the same. Will watch rotation. Nice to be able to replace it on my own terms, rather than in the dead of winter when they usually fail. Thanks.
