heat pumps & AC units
Looking to replace my heat pump and ac unit. Am looking at York, Trane, and American Standard. Cannot find any information about the reliability and general repair issues for each of these manufacturers. Help would be appreciated.

Get 3 bids for the job. The main thing is who puts it in. Get some one that has been around there for a long time . he will do a good job.
Now if you are going to to be in the home for 10 years more . Go for the good stuff With Trane or A/S Go for a 15 seer or over and with the variable speed blower. You can get a 10 year warranty on it all .Also a tax credit from the IRS for the 15 seer

I belive it was the June of 2005 consumer reports issue that gave all the current info on reliability of the different manufactures. Maybe you can find the old article online. American Standard and Trane were #1 & 2
