Convert A/C To Heat Pump?

A friend purchased a Trane 4TTR2036A at what he thought was a bargain until he realized this is a A/C unit and not a heat pump. He is wondering if it is possible to convert the Trane 4TTR2036A to a heat pump Trane 4TWR2036A or are these actually the same units with different model numbers?

He has the Trane 4TEE3F37A Air Handler Unit.

The short answer is "NO". It's not possible to convert the air conditioning unit to heat pump. As we all know anything is possible if you have enough money but if he had enough money, he would not have been so quick to buy an unrealistic bargain in the first place. Sell the unit to another unsuspecting bargain hunter and buy the correct model.

A/C to Heat Pump

That is what I told him too. You get what you pay for but he wanted me to ask just to make sure. I told him to see if it could be traded in for a heat pump.
