When the heat pump is defrosting, it HUMs.
As long as it is working after the hum, it should be normal.

I'm using the heater, I open the panel on the heat pump and held the reverse valve and the humming eased, almost stopped, so I wedged a 2x4 under it and the humming has decreased dramatically.

Could it be just loose?
Does it suppose to hum at all don't matter how little?

Sometimes a valve with a coil in it can hum. Dont know the unit there. But some pull in the 4 way valve for heat and the others pull it in for AC. So yours is on for heat.

Does it look like anything needs replacing, like the rust on the blue canister?
