Heat Pump Sizing

I need to replace my heat pump that is 20+ years old. Is there a web site that has a sizing template to help me determine the right tonnage?

Also any thoughts on what heat pump brands are best.

Thanks

here is a website that has a residential hvac software for correctly sizing new equipment. I believe it costs $49.00. take a look.

http://www.hvaccalc.com/

my personal minimum specs for a new heat pump

15 SEER, 12 EER, 9 HSPF
full BTUs in both heating and cooling for your size
matching var speed air handler
scroll compressor preferred
electronic defrost preferred
R-410a refrigerant
new lineset correctly sized
staged heat strips
thermostat that controls blower speed for best dehumidification

as far as single stage condensers, these are my favorites not in any particular order.

1.Carrier Performance 15(Bryant Preferred 15)
2.Trane XL15i(AmStd Heritage 15)

Rheem's RPPL-JEZ Series has some good numbers.

with any new system, your ductwork should be thoroughly inspected.

IMO
