Water Source Regulator valve

When in bed I can hear the water from the well cutting off and on as it comes under the house right under the bed.

I been hearing it cut off and on pretty regularly, I got to looking for a leak. I went under the house to my Trane water source and the black regulator or solonoid valve water was running through it while the unit was not on. Usually you don't hear. I could also feel the water going through.

There is a round off/on switch I cut it off. I also cut the unit off. Look at my pic is this what it is? Does it just go out?
Being laid off and money so tight. I'm going to replace it Friday.

If you know about this what it does and what made it go out?
Please tell me about it and anything to know in putting another one.
Thank you

It's your water shut off valve for your water source heat pump.
When your water source heat pump calls it calls for this valve to open.
The valve has a diaphragm in it and it will eventually fail do to age and water deterioration against the rubber diaphragm.
It's common.

Get your new valve, turn breaker off system, unwire the low voltage install new valve, wire 24v sileniod valve wires back up.

You can also adjust the flow on the valve so that it's not wide open. Too much water flow will make your system not as efficient but right now don't worry about that
