hi mike, don't understand the question?
i know the problem is the outside unit not the unit mounted in the attic. the fan operates just fine.
there is also an on/off breaker mounted on the outside next to the unit, it has a fuse inside the box..

Go to the outdoor equipment supplied by the 20-A ckt breaker. Post a legible photo of the nameplate here - or write down what it says, and transcribe it here.
Is the breaker a single-pole (120-V) or a double-pole (240-V)?

mike i could not take a pic, because my camera was left on the boat.
however, the data plate says min. fuse is 20 amp. and max fuse is 20 also.
ii does have the box mounted on the side of the house with the on/off lever with a fuse inside, it has never blown.
i have a double pole 240 in the breaker box in the house. that is the one that blows from time to time, during cooling and heating.
the other larger downstairs unit with a 30 amp circuit has nev er blown and they were wired by the same company.

The unit is drawing excess amps - hard to say why. Maybe the motor capacitor is weak? Low voltage at the motor terminals will cause an induction motor to draw more amps?
