Trane Help

I have a Trane TWR736A100A1 heat pump controlled by a Hunter 44132 t'stat. This unit will not heat and constantly blows out cold air. Does anybody know how to test the defrost circuit board? Also what does a flashing red light on the DFCB mean? THANKS!

Was this stat just added or been used for awhile, and just started doing this?

What your back up heat? (Gas furnace or electric air handler)

If the red LED is flashing once per sec everything is normal with the board.

If its flashing faster, then check the service manual and see what the code is.

The model you've given is not a valid number. How old is it?

Stat replaced a baystat last week and hasn't worked right since. Wiring double checked by Hunter phone rep.
Electric
LED appears to be flashing every second.

Unit ran last night with stat set at 70, inside temp was 65, and after 4 hours run time unit never went into defrost and inside temp 66.

Unit is a XE1000 1991 model, other than this issue works great on a/c side.

Any help would be greatly appericated.

I also noticed on the defrost control board there is a red test wire. Should this be plugged onto one of the prongs next to it?

Old----New
R--------R
Y--------Y
G--------G
O--------O
W-------Aux/E

Any other used wires, tape and tuck into the wall.

Make sure stat switch set to HP, Elec.

No, that wire is only used for testing.

Are these blow hooked up? You posted it in your post? If they are hooked up, they don't need to be.

No they are not hooked up......went by local Trane shop and tech told Hunter tstats from big box diy stores will not work on my system as they do not have anticipators on them. I picked up a Honeywell TH5000 and am trying it.

Jay,
On my TH5000 tstat there is an option to set parameters for the changeover valve to energize in cooling or heating. Do you know which I should be using.
I have another XE1000 1.5t unit for upstairs, I checked the larger copper line at the outside unit and it is warm and blowing cold air out of the top of unit. My 3t unit I'm having all of the issues with is just the opposite (cold line and warmer air from top of unit). Again any help or advice would be greatly appreicated.

You want to set #2 to 0.

Any new stat now days does not have the anticipators in them.. The old "T" Wire was used to run the anticipator. So that T wire is no longer used, and tucked away.
