Heat Pump Freezing, No Backup Heat

My unit is about 7 years old last winter we replaced the defrost timer board, this winter it froze up again. Freon is good found the two circut breakers for the electric heat burned and replaced them, not cheap. A week later frozen solid again, defrost board bad. The other problem is that on Emerg heat there is no heat. It's new years weekend and we found 1 board but can't get it until Monday. Any ideas on the emergency heat would be appreciated.

Moved your post to it's own thread. Not a good idea to jump onto the end of an 11 month old thread with a new problem!!!!

Emergency Heat problem may be caused by the tstat, indoor unit, wiring, or all 3. More info needed here.

Do you have a meter and know how to use it??

from your description the board is NOT bad. I have seen this before where the tstat wiring was shorted. If I were to drive up on your job I would pull a new tstat wire after the other basics were checked and proven OK.
