Heil Heat Pump, when on EM heat fan runs all the time?

Hello, when my heat pump is switched at the thermostat to Emergency Heat the switch you slide also slides the switch that makes the fan run all the time.
Are all heat pumps like this? Is there a different thrmostat you could get that would not run the fan all the time?

Thanks for your help

it depends on what kind of emergency heat you have. If it is electric then the fan HAS to run immediately. IF it is Gas heat then the control board can turn it on after the heat exchanger warms up. If when in E heat mode your current stat runs the fan 24/7 regardless of what kind of e heat you have then that can be corrected by a new stat. Give some feedback and we can go from there.

yes its electric but it just seems wasteful for it to run even when the electric strip heaters are shut off due to the thermostsat being satisifed,

thanks

Are you certain that when the strip heat is off that the HP is not running along with the blower?

yes im certain the heat pump is not running due to the fact i moved the slider on the thermostat to emergency heat which only runs the strip heaters..no heat pump.
My complain is when you run it on just em heat when you puch the slider to em heat it pushes the slider beside it turning the fan to the on pos.

thanks

Would this thermostat you suggest:
when put on manual emergency heat, will the fan run all day or will the stat shut the fan off when the strip heater shuts down?

for example:
the stat is put on emergency heat at 70 degress the fan NOw comes on, it warms up outside the tep inside is 73 all day, the way things are now the fan would never shut off and the strip heaters would never come on....seems like a stupid design!

yes, it would shut the fan off unless there is a problem inside the unit, but from your description it is your thermostat that is a bad design.

Yes 24/7. This will provide filtered air and help with cold and warm spots

is it necessary to run all the time, NO. It is a personal preference. To answer your question, yes that stat should work.
