Trane xi 15 Heat Pump

We got a new heat pump last summer and so far we love it but when it kicks on it momentarily dims the lights then it's OK. Is that normal? Also I am trying to figure out how many watts this thing uses so I can do a total household calculation. How do I figure that out? All it says on the tag on the air handler is 4.3 amps and 200-230 volts . Thanks so much for any help

If it is dimming the lights on startup a hardstart kit can be added to lower the starting amps and or the breaker for the HP can be moved clower to the top of the panel close to the main breaker.

Dave

If you do call your installer, wire size to condenser should be checked.

Here is link to Trane's spec sheet on the XL15i which BTW is one of the best sgl stg HPs on the market. Hope it was paired with the best choice matching air handler.

IMO

For further info? You are only giving us the amperage of the air handler. Go outside and get the same information off the compressor unit. Watts=Voltage x Amperage. To help you better understand Ohm's law go here: Ohm's Law
