Heat Pump Compressor Shuts Off When It's Hot

I have a Carrier Model 38YKC030. Where we live on warm days the high hits around 5pm. On those days, at around 5pm, the compressor on the heat pump will shut off. The fan on the compressor keeps running and the blower fan inside the house keeps running, but the compressor stops and the air coming out stops being cool. The compressor then won't function for the rest of the day but then start working again next morning. Two techs have been unable to determine a cause. Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas. Thanks.

Sounds like the compressor is getting hot and shutting off on thermal overload.

Wash the outdoor coil.

Also... measure the capacitors, check the entering voltage to the contactor, check the voltage on the compressor side of the contactor, check the compressor terminal connections, check the starting amperage of the compressor, check the running amperage of the compressor, have the superheat and subcool checked as well.
