What do you mean by heat the furnace at a certain spot?

Sounds like a relay is sticking. I'm not what hitting has to do with heating it up.....

You need to investigate as to what exactly you are jarring when you hit the furnace at that location.

Fan Continues to Run

After my AC/Heat runs, the fan stays on. It blows warm air (not hot or cold) during this time. It continues to blow the warm air until the AC/Heat cuts on again. The only solution I found to get it to stop blowing is to heat the furnace at a certain spot. It works every time. I know there has to be a better permanent fix for this. Any ideas?

My thermostat is about 2 months old, but it did this with the older thermostat. The unit is about 10 years old.

Thanks

There is a area on the furnace that if I hit it turns the fan off. It is near the upper right side of the furnace.

Like Kevin said it sounds like a sticking relay or control. A picture would help immensely. If you are just heating the outside cabinet of the furnace..... take the service cover off and see what it is your heating.
